Happened to me once, and I was flabberghasted until I found out why the stick wouldn't respond. Without the Saitek driver the program software for the flight control system will not find the x52. The X52 has a connecting cable running between joystick and thrust control which does tend to shake loose if you are not careful. Make sure the joystick is properly recognised in the system manager, and, as asinine a proposition as it may be, check the cables. Try to create a profile with the software once again. Multiple USB ports have been tried - same thing.

I tried the Saitek drivers - still doesnt detect it. Up to now, there’s not always a need to install the dedicated Saitek drivers nor Saitek’s Smart Technology programming software. Anyway, I get it home and connect it, and it lights up - but Windows doesnt detect that anything is plugged in. I have the same joystick, with the drivers that came with it installed, and I haven't had those problems (X3 1.0 aside, which didn't properly recognise the stick). So I picked up a Craigslist Special of a Saitek X52 (yeah, I know, not the wisest move). But after closing the game, I attempted it again and now its not working.
